Girls basketball: Sussex Hamilton tops DSHA for share of conference title

The Sussex Hamilton girls basketball defeated Divine Savior Holy Angels (DSHA) Feb. 17, 62-48.
The win was the second victory in two days for Hamilton, which gave the team a share of the Greater Metro Conference title.
Hamilton opened up a 26-19 lead at the 5:41 mark of the first half following a jump shot by Taylor Fuestenberg. However, the Dashers rallied and entered halftime with a 31-30 lead following a three-point basket by Georgia Barczak with 54 seconds left in the half.
Hamilton’s defense then stepped up and held DSHA to 17 points in the second half. An 11-6 run gave Hamilton a 45-39 lead at the 10:58 mark of the second half following a layup by Anna Rhude. DSHA cut the lead to 55-48 following two free throws by Jackie Jarosz with 52.1 left in the game. However, Hamilton finished the game by converting several free throws to seal the victory.
Taylor Laboy and Taylor Hibicke led Hamilton with 16 points each.
